Fire claims woman's life in Moga

A woman was killed in a fire accident at Bahona chowk in Moga late evening on Wednesday. The victim, Simarjit Kaur, 35, was working in the kitchen when a fire broke out and she was burnt alive. Two days back, another woman had died in a similar fire accident at Chugawan village when she was in the kitchen of her house.

A woman was killed in a fire accident at Bahona chowk in Moga late evening on Wednesday. The victim, Simarjit Kaur, 35, was working in the kitchen when a fire broke out and she was burnt alive. Two days back, another woman had died in a similar fire accident at Chugawan village when she was in the kitchen of her house.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of south city police station Des Raj said that it was an accident. "The seriously injured victim was rushed to Dr Mathura Dass civil hospital, where she was pronounced dead," said the ASI.

On the statement of the victim's husband, Jagmohan Singh, the police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. "We are waiting for the post-mortem report," the ASI added.
