Five booked for assault on granthi

The Shri Hargobindpur police have booked five persons on the charges of assaulting a granthi at Galowal village on Wednesday night. In his complaint, Darshan Singh, a resident of Galowal village, said he is working as granthi in the village gurdwara.

The Shri Hargobindpur police have booked five persons on the charges of assaulting a granthi at Galowal village on Wednesday night.

In his complaint, Darshan Singh, a resident of Galowal village, said he is working as granthi in the village gurdwara. He said due to some personal rivalry, some residents of the village forcibly asked him to leave the granthi's job but he denied.

On Wednesday evening, when he was going to the gurdwara, Lakhwinder Singh, Lakhbir Singh, Amrik Singh, Kala and Gora stopped him and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not leave his job.

Later, all the five assaulted him. He fled the spot to save his life.

On the statement of Darshan Singh, the police have registered a case against all the accused, who were absconding yet.
