Four killed in collision of two bikes in Moga

The accident occurred when a motorcycle — carrying four persons including two children— trying to overtake a stationary truck parked in the middle of the road collided with a bike coming from the opposite direction.

Four persons, including two children, were killed in a head-on collision between two motorbikes at Longiwind village here on Thursday.

The accident occurred when a motorcycle — carrying four persons including two children— trying to overtake a stationary truck parked in the middle of the road collided with a bike coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased have been identified as Rajwinder Singh, 38, his son Arshnoor Singh, 4, niece Monika,15, all residents of Chabba village in Ferozepur district. Rajwinder’s wife Preet Kaur who sustained serious injuries has been hospitalised.

The fourth victim has been identified as Gurcharan Singh, 48, a resident of Ludhiana. His two friends -- Kashmir Singh and Neelam — who were riding pillion have sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at the civil hospital.

Investigating officer and assistant sub-inspector of police Kuldeep Singh said they have booked the driver of the truck bearing registration number PB 05 0519 for wrongly parking the vehicle in the middle of the road which caused the fatal accident.

“The truck driver managed to flee the spot. The bodies will be handed over to the families after autopsy,” he added
