Gangster Manjinder Singh, alias Kala Sekhon, 35, and his two accomplices were arrested at Raiya Wala Kalan, 15 km from Faridkot, on Friday when they were planning a dacoity. Another accomplice escaped.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Sekhon, who was out on parole. Punjab Police have listed him as a B-category gangster as he faces four criminal cases, including an attempt to murder and another under the Arms Act. He has been involved in criminal activities in the district for a decade.

The two accomplices arrested with him are Beant Singh, 28, from Gobindsar Basti in Faridkot and Sukhjinder Singh, 30, from Middu-Maan in Faridkot district. The third accomplice, Mangu Singh Manga, escaped.

Police said weapons were recovered from the arrested gangsters. A new case was registered against the gangsters under Sections 399 (conspiring to turn to dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at Sadar police station in Faridkot.
