Suicideof two category A gangsters, Bunty Dhillon, Jaspreet alias Jumpy, and one category B gangster Nishan Singh, in Sirsa on Tuesday morning has brought the spotlight back on the gangs of Punjab.
Here is a roundup of the top 5 gangsters wanted by the Punjab police:
Jaipal: Son of a former cop from Ferozepur, he is said to be one of the most powerful gangsters active in the state. He once was a national-level hammer thrower but is now wanted in more than 15 cases of murder and robberies. He has killed gangster Jaswinder Singh Rocky near Parwanoo and then declared it on Facebook.
Tirath Singh: An aide of Jaipal, Tirath, a native of Dhilwan in Faridkot, is among the most dreaded gangsters in Punjab, known for contract killing. He is wanted in more than ten such cases in different states and is said to be a master in highway robberies.
Gurbaksh Sewewala: Resident of Sewewala village of Faridkot, Sewewala is the main accused in the robbery of 34 guns from a gun house in 2014. He is wanted in at least five cases of murder and loot. A right hand man of sharpshooter Davinder Bambiha, who was gunned down by police in September 2016, he now leads the group.
Harjinder Singh Vicky Gounder: At the present moment, Gounder is who Punjab police is most after. An escapee of Nabha jail break, this native of Sarawan Bodla village is wanted in the Rocky murder case. In April this year, he killed three rival gang members in Gurdaspur.
Jaspreet Singh Goppy Ghanshampria: Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Ghanshampur from Amritsar district, along with other gangsters Supreet Singh alias Harry Chatha and Prema Singh alias Prema Lahoriyafacilitated the Nabha jail break. He is wanted in 13 cases of murder and other crimes.
