Guru Nanak Dev University has abolished internal assessment from the academic session of 2013-14 and semester system has been adopted for all the post graduate diplomas, advance diplomas and certificate courses.
However, the courses in the Faculty of Physical Education and Faculty of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy will be continuing under Annual Examination System.
Vice Chancellor of GNDU, Prof. AS Brar said this while presiding over the Meeting of Academic Council of the university held on Friday in the Senate Hall of the University.
Prof. Brar added that Basic Punjabi, which is compulsory at Under Graduate level, will be considered as equivalent to compulsory subject of Punjabi Language in Matric class of the Punjab State Education Board. He said that earlier, Punjab History and Culture subject was offered to the students at Under Graduation level as option along with Punjabi compulsory subject for those students who are not aware of Punjabi language. He said that this decision would also be beneficial for those candidates who wish to render their services in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the temporary affiliation to Khalsa College of Laws, Ram Tirath Road, Amritsar along with courses of L.L.B. (Five Years) and L.L.B. (Three Years) for the session 2012-13 has also been granted. In the meeting, syllabus of various courses and ordinances for the session 2013-14 was also discussed at length.
With the recommendations of equivalence committee meetings, it was also considered that recognition of B.B.A. (4 year duration) degree; Bachelor degree in Travel and Tourism Management (3 year duration); B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering (4 year duration) degrees passed from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal as equivalent to corresponding degrees of the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
The meeting also approved the recognition of Master of Physiotherapy (Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy) degree passed from Lovely Professional University, Phagwara as equivalent to M.S.P.T. degree of the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar presented the agenda. Dr. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar, Dean, Academic Affairs, nearly 80 principals, Head of the Departments and other members were present at the meeting.
