Haryana man held in Patiala for possessing 8-kg charas

A Haryana resident was arrested for possessing 8-kg charas from near Purani Chungi area on the Rajpura road. The accused has been identified as Kabli of Karnal. He was produced in a court from where he was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Police stopped a private bus for checking when the accused got off the bus and started running. He was nabbed after a chase and during search 8-kg charas was found on him.

Investigating officer (IO) Gurwinder Singh said the accused had bought the contraband from Haryana. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at the Lahori Gate police station.
