Heavy rain since Tuesday night have caused huge landslides in various parts of the district as a result of which road traffic on many roads has been partly suspended causing inconvenience to people. Workers of the public works department were seen busy clearing the debris that had fallen on the roads.

According to reports, the Beas river and its tributaries flowing through the district were in spate and people living on their banks have been ordered to shift to safer places.
An official spokesperson of the district administration said the loss to the property during the last forty eight hours due to rains was around one crore with damage to roads being approximately fifty lakhs.
Meanwhile, farmers are happy with the arrival of monsoons and are hopeful of a good crop this time with such more rains expected in the coming days.
