The local police arrested a 35-year-old man after recovering 100gm of heroin, estimated to be worth `50 lakh in international market, on Tuesday.

ADCP Manjit Singh Dhesi said the accused, Avtar Singh, was walking towards a barricade installed in Jagirpur village, when he suddenly turned around. Sub-inspector Harbans Singh became suspicious and nabbed Avtar. On searching him, 100gm heroin was found from his pants.
“Avtar, a resident of Havas village in Ludhiana, admitted that he bought the drugs from a woman in Moga district. Accused is a repeated offender and several cases are already lodged against him at Jagraon and Ludhiana,” Dhesi said.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered. The accused was produced before the court that sent him in one-day police remand.
