Railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Thursday proposed to start a high-speed train service from Chandigarh to New Delhi via Yamunanagar.

"The train will have just two or three stops and we plan to avoid the routine route via Ambala," Bansal, who is the local member of Parliament, told reporters soon after his arrival here.

He said that the completion of the Chandigarh-Baddi and Chandigarh-Ludhiana links would be his priority. "The Chandigarh station will be made world-class along with four other stations, including two in Delhi and one in Pune. Linking Chandigarh with Haridwar and Amethi is on the cards besides more trains to the South," the minister said.

Passengers will now be able to order the menu of their choice, which would be reflected in the cost of the ticket, he said, adding he would access all mails and references sent to the rail ministry pertaining to Chandigarh.
