Enraged at an illicit relationship between his wife and one of his relatives, a man, along with other members of family, allegedly strangled the paramour to death at his house in the Shutrana block on Friday evening.
The police have booked eight members, including three women, of the family for murder for 22-year-old Pawan Kumar and a case has been registered at the Patran police station.
The deceased was a labourer and was a regular visitor to the house of the main accused, Balwant Ram.
The crime came to light when the father of the victim Jai Parkash visited the accused's house after his son did not return home throughout the day on Friday. When he reached the body, he found the members of the accused's family trying to hide the rope by which his son had allegedly been strangulated.
He complained to the police and the department registered a case. The accused have been identified as Balwant Ram, Kalu, Jagga, Roshan, Lal Singh, Pinki Bai, Darshna Bai, Banti Bai. All have been booked under Sections 302 (murder) and 120B ( whoever is a party to a criminal an offence punishable with death) of the IPC.
Shutrana SHO Gurdev Singh said the post-mortem of the deceased had been conducted. "Teams have been formed to nab the accused, who are on the run. We will proceed further after we receive the post-mortem report."
