A heavy traffic jam was witnessed on Tuesday when joint action committee of the Panchayat Union held a protest demonstration outside the mini-secretariat complex on Ferozepur road.

Commuters were left a harried lot, as they were stuck up in the jam for at least one hour.
The protests were pacified only after one hour when additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Amrit Kaur Gill accepted the memorandum of the agitated protestors and assured them of sending their demand list to the chief minister.
The union demanded that the decision of audit of Panchayat from private chartered accountants and companies be rolled back.
Union office-bearer Dilbagh Singh said if the government would not fulfill their demands, they would protest in front of the ministers of the state.
The union members also stated that the government was facing financial crisis and to fill the government treasury, it was ordering audit of Panchayat from private companies.
