The government has approved Rs 50 crore for the college infrastructure, which would initially have three streams, including mechanical, electronics and communication and civil engineering.

The state government has even sanctioned posts of teaching and non-teaching staff, and the college would initially run in the building of Government Polytechnic College, Kangra.

The college would be later funded under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

The engineering college is the second major project after Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda village. It would be the first government sector engineering college in the district, and the third in the state.

The Congress is also planning to hold a rally at Nagrota Bagwan on Saturday.
