Karnal trader gets life in murder case

A city businessman, Ram Kumar Kalyan, who had been held guilty of murder on May 9 by a local court, was on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment. Kalyan was also fined of 20,000. Kalyan was accused of killing Shramveer, brother of his daughter-in-law Renuka.

A city businessman, Ram Kumar Kalyan, who had been held guilty of murder on May 9 by a local court, was on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment. Kalyan was also fined of 20,000.

Kalyan was accused of killing Shramveer, brother of his daughter-in-law Renuka. Shramveer had shot dead his sister Renuka’s husband Nabheet Kalyan over a domestic issue and then attempted suicide.

The crime had taken place at Kalyan’s residence at Sector 14 here on April 22, 2008. The prosecution could prove that Kalyan had shot dead Shramveer.
