Even as the Mohali police claimed to have cracked the murder case of senior journalist KJ Singh and his bed-ridden mother Gurcharan Kaur with the arrest of 27-year-old Gaurav Kumar from Mohali on Thursday, some vital questions remain unanswered:

1. Why would accused use KJ Singh’s car — a strikingly uncommon green Ford Ikon — on the prime Airport Road in Mohali in broad daylight?

2. If the car was indeed parked in Kajheri in Chandigarh as Mohali police claim, why was it not traced by UT police or reported by neighbours?

3. How was accused so confident about there being only two persons inside house, one of them bedridden?

4. Why would the accused use a kitchen knife when he knew he had to overpower a tall, well-built man such as KJ?
