Later they burnt the US president's effigy near Fawaara Chowk here.

The left party activists claimed that they apprehended that some agreements would be signed during Obama's visit which may harm the country. They made an appeal to other parties and like-minded organisations to express their resentment against the imperialistic and capitalistic policies of the US.

They slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting the US President to India and "putting the interests of the country on the stake and helping imperialistic hegemony of America".
