Appealing to keep Jammu and Kashmir cozy and warm during the upcoming winters, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar on Tuesday urged all SGPC members to collect warm clothes, especially quilts, mattresses and blankets for the J&K flood affected families.

In his appeal, Makkar asked the members to make maximum possible collections from their respective areas and deposit these with the SGPC in the next few days.

"Due to the weather getting colder in J&K, warm clothes, blankets, mattresses and quilts will be required as the floods have virtually destroyed household items. Those who use a quilt or blanket while going to sleep will thank you," he added.

SGPC team holds meetings in Srinagar :

Meanwhile the SGPC team in Srinagar held meetings with community and 'mohalla' leaders in various localities of the J&K capital town. The meetings were to assess the damage to property and household items by the floods.

The team will be presenting a detailed report to Makkar on return of the immediate requirements of flood hit families. The SGPC has already announced that monetary help will be given to Sikh families for repairing or rebuilding their dwellings.
