People's Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Badal today faced some tough questions from his ally Congress workers who sought assurance from him that he would not rejoin hands with the ruling Badal family.
Manpreet is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Bathinda constituency as the Congress-PPP alliance candidate. He faces sitting MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal of SAD.
A large number of Congress workers today gathered outside the residence of Maheshinder Singh Badal, a party leader and cousin of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, where Manpreet Badal and his father Gurdas Badal were also present.
Gurdas Badal is younger brother of Parkash Singh Badal.
Manpreet was today seeking support of Congress workers from the Lambi Assembly constituency for his candidature.
Venting their ire against Manpreet, Congress workers asked about his role when they were allegedly being victimised by the SAD regime.
They also accused Gurdas Badal of enjoying good relations with the Punjab CM despite his son severing ties with SAD.
Both Manpreet and Gurdas assured the Congress workers that they would not enter into any sort of alliance with SAD or Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal after the polls.
Thereafter, Congress workers vowed to support Manpreet in the coming Lok Sabha elections, said Mukstar District Congress president Gurmeet Singh Khudian.
