Complainant Bhavneet Kaur of Diamond Avenue has lodged her complaint with the women police station and stated that her marriage to Santokh Kashmir Singh of Rasulpur Kalan village, falls in Malout tehsil of Muktsar district, was solemnised in 2015.

In her complaint, she said her husband started demanding more dowry from his in-laws. “I left my husband’s house a few weeks ago after being repeatedly harassed for dowry. He even used to beat me when the demand was not met,” she added.

Investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Resham Singh, said, “A case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against her husband.”

“We will soon send a team to Malout to arrest the accused,” he added.
