No beating the heat: Mercury soars in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures were above normal on Sunday in various places across Punjab and Haryana with Chandigarh recording a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

Maximum temperatures were above normal on Sunday in various places across Punjab and Haryana with Chandigarh recording a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

In Punjab, the maximum temperature at Amritsar settled at 35 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala registered maximum temperatures of 34.7 and 35.1 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT department said.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded the highest temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while Hisar registered a high of 35.3 degrees Celsius.

The Met Department has forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places in both the states in next two days.
