The National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) has demanded a detailed inquiry into the mass transfers of 523 specialist doctors by the Punjab government.
NSCA president Paramjit Singh Kainth claimed that some of the doctors had managed to retain their postings without getting transferred year after year.
In a statement, Kainth claimed, “The reason that the health ministry has put forth for the mass transfers is upgradation of about 100 hospitals across Punjab. Actually, the mass transfer has been done for political reasons keeping an eye on the Parliamentary elections.”
He said: “An inquiry should be conducted into the matter, as some of the doctors had alleged that they had been paying bribes to the health ministry officials to put off transfers.”
