This decision was taken here at a meeting chaired by information and public relations secretary Rahul Tiwari.

The state government had recently announced hike in the old-age pension from Rs 250 to Rs 500 per month with effect from January 1, 2016.

One state-level function each would be organised in SAS Nagar and Jalandhar, where chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, respectively, would be the chief guests, a spokesman said.

Similar functions would be organised in other districts and all assembly constituencies, the spokesman added.
