Operation Bluestar anniversary: Akhand path starts at Akal Takht

The SGPC observes the anniversary of the army operation every year at the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Monday started an akhand path (non-stop recitation of gurbani) at the Akal Takht to commemorate those killed during Operation Bluestar in 1984 .

The SGPC observes the anniversary of the army operation every year at the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs. The bhog ceremony of the akhand path for the 34th anniversary will be held on around 8.00 am on Wednesday.

Akal Takht head granthi Giani Malkit Singh performed an ‘ardas’ to start the path in the presence of Takht Kesgarh Sahib jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, SGPC member Manjit Singh, chief secretary Roop Singh, secretary Manjit Singh, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhoora Kohna, assistant secretary Sulakhan Singh and Golden Temple manager Jaswinder Singh Deenpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Giani Raghbir Singh appealed to the Sikh devotees and Sikh bodies to remember those killed in army action with patience, devotion and respect.
