PAU govt school defeats Nankana Sahib School in first match of Coca-Cola Cup

The fourth All-India Coca-Cola Cup kicked-off at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Road on Monday.
School principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich inaugurated the cricket tournament.
In the under-16 inter-school cricket tournament, four teams, including BCM, Shastri Nagar; Government Model Senior Secondary School, PAU; Nankana Sahib Public School and Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines are participating.
On the first day, after winning the toss, Nankana Sahib Public School (NSPS) team chose to field first. PAU government school was all out in just 36 overs, put up a total of 193 runs.
Chatterpall played a knock of 77 runs, hitting boundaries, while Krishna scored 35 runs and finally Deepak chipped in with his 12 runs. From NSPS team Ishmeet, Amandeep and Harman, each claimed three wickets in their spells.
NSPS team while chasing the mammoth total was all out on 118 runs.
Yash Dhiman scored 32, while Satveer made 25 runs from the NSPS side. Mohan and Shivam took three wickets each from Government School, PAU, while Munish took two aiding to his team's victory over NSPS by 74 runs.
Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) is organising this cricket tournament every year from the past four years.
Charanjeet Singh Bhangu, chief coach, LDCA, said, "The attempt is to provide exposure to the budding players, so that they can be accustomed to playing at early stage. It is also about promoting the game at the grassroots level. I am thankful to Nankana Sahib Public School officials for conducting the tournament on their premises."
Vinod Chitkara, general secretary, LDCA, was also present on the inaugural day of the tournament.
