A pension adalat was organised by the principal controller of defence accounts (PCDA), Allahabad, at Taxila Hall at the Bathinda military station here on Thursday.
Defence Services Welfare Department director Brig Manjit Singh (retd) was a special invitee at the adalat.
He interacted with the PCDA, Allahabad, officials and senior army officers of Chetak Corps and reviewed the elaborate arrangements made for the pension adalat and appreciated the efforts put in by 81 Sub Area HQ and PCDA, Allahabad.
The brigadier interacted with ex-servicemen and heard their grievances. He assured them that every effort would be made by the Directorate of Defence Services Welfare to sort out their problems on priority.
He also interacted with ex-servicemen, war widows, widows and their dependents at the office of the District Defence Services Welfare, Bathinda.
Addressing the gathering, Brig Manjit Singh (retd) said, "The issue raised by them will be taken up at an appropriate level to sort out their problems." He said every effort was being made to coordinate at all levels with different departments to bring maximum welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen.
He said, "The directorate of defence services is committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen as this is not only the recognition of their sacrifices but they will also sort out their day-to-day problems."
He explained various welfare schemes and made special mention of the incentive grant of Rs 1 lakh to the officers joining defence forces training academies, increase in grant to the gallantry awardees by 20%, increase in old-age pension from Rs 1,000 to 2,000 per month and others.
He said they would make all efforts so that welfare-related schemes reached the grassroots level.
