As his efforts to get a job were shattered since he received a letter from employment office two days after interviews were over, Hindustan Times highlighted his plight on October 2, 2010.

HT had highlighted how the letter had taken 15 days to cover a distance of 10km, which had cost the physically challenged youth dear.

Following the report, Punjab and Haryana high court took notice and issued notices to both the employment office and postal department.

Raj Kumar had to shuttle between Pathankot and Chandigarh during this time. Finally, JKS Cheema, deputy director, employment, met him in Chandigarh and assured him of a job in the excise department, Jalandhar.

Raj Kumar recently received his appointment letter, bringing his agony to an end.
