While last year, student outfits fought the campus elections by raking up the issue of the financial crisis and fee-hike in Panjab University, this year the central status for the varsity is set to fare high on their agenda.

With the elections round the corner, though the date is yet to be fixed, student organisations on campus are busy preparing their ‘best’ agenda. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has even started a poll survey on its Facebook page, asking students for their opinion on what should be the poll agenda.
“This election, let us serve you the way you want us to. Tell us what is the most important issue for you and we shall strive for the same. Vote now!” reads the status on the Facebook wall of ABVP PU Chandigarh page. The students are provided five options to choose from—sanitation, central university status for PU, campus placement, infrastructure and security on campus.
Some student organisations are also holding protests and candle-light marches on national issues such as the landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Gorakhpur tragedy and Chandigarh stalking case to be in news in the election season.
