Principal correspondent assaulted by cop

Satpal, principal correspondent with a national Hindi daily, was assaulted by head constable Husan Lal of rural police on Thursday morning inside the trauma ward of the civil hospital when he had gone for an X-ray of his shoulder.

After the incident, media persons reached the spot and protested against the high-handedness of the cop. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) DD Sharma rushed to the civil hospital after media informed him about the incident.

After listening to the media, the erring official was taken to the police station action was assured against him.

The correspondent had met with an accident on Thursday morning and suffered a shoulder injury. He was taken to the civil hospital by his colleagues but when he entered the trauma centre for the X-ray, the head constable started arguing with him over an issue and allegedly slapped him several times in front of people inside the trauma ward.

After his treatment, the correspondent, along with a group of media personnel, filed a complaint against the cop with Sharma.
