Protesting teachers detained, released later

A large number of protesting members of the Special Trainer Teacher Union (STTU) were detained on Sunday and released later as they wanted to hold a protest in front of education minister Sikander Singh Maluka's house.

A large number of protesting members of the Special Trainer Teacher Union (STTU) were detained on Sunday and released later as they wanted to hold a protest in front of education minister Sikander Singh Maluka's house.

Paramjit Kaur, spokesperson of STTU, claimed that police rounded up nearly 200 teachers from Kotha Guru Ka village and were released later. The Nathana station house officer, however, said, "Nearly 40 teachers were detained and released later. The protesters were rounded up at Kotha Guru Ka after they attempted to cross the barricades and enter Maluka village."
