The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has extended the last date for admission to Classes 9 to 12 in government schools from May 15 to July 15. Amrita Gill, director (academic), PSEB, has sent directions in this regard to principals, headmasters and headmistresses of government high and senior secondary schools.
This is not the first time that the board has extended the last date for admission to these classes, as it follows the same practice every year.
Last year, the board had extended it three times and the last date for admission was August 7. A section of the school heads and teachers have expressed their resentment against the board's move, as this will affect academic environment in schools.
Talking to Hindustan Times, a principal, on the condition of anonymity, said, "We started the admission process from April 1 and for a-month-and-a-half teachers are busy with this process. If the board will keep extending the date for admissions when will the teachers take classes?"
