Punjab government restores vacation days for faculty medical, dental colleges

It was brought to the notice of the Punjab government that the summer vacation of the faculty of the medical and dental colleges was reduced from 37 days to 30 days during the previous regime.

The Punjab government on Tuesday restored 37 vacation days during summer season for the faculty of medical and dental colleges in the state.

Health minister Brahm Mohindra said the orders were issued after it was brought to the notice of the government that the summer vacation of the faculty of the medical and dental colleges was reduced from 37 days to 30 days during the previous regime.

“The faculty members apprised me that the academic leave actually is not a leave, rather during these vacations they are bound to serve academic duties as examiners or attending academic conferences,” he said.

Mohindra said the government has approved 37 vacation days in summer and 14 in the winter along with 20 academic leaves for the faculty members of the medical, dental colleges in a year.
