Punjab technical education minister Charanjeet Singh Channi on Monday said that non-performing principals of government polytechnic colleges in the state will be transferred.
In a meeting he held with department officials, it was also decided to link the performance of the entire staff and lecturers of technical education department with ACRs (annual confidential reports). Also, increments in salary and promotions would be based on performance.
The performance of the staff of polytechnic colleges would be monitored regularly to improve the standard of technical education.
Channi constituted a three-member committee for strengthening the overall system of government polytechnic colleges. One member each from Maharaja Ranjit Singh University, Bathinda, Punjab Technical Universities (PTU), Jalandhar, and the Punjab State Board of Technical Education would be part of this committee.
He said the committee would visit all government polytechnic colleges and submit a report about the infrastructure development, upgrade of courses and other requirements. He said only the courses that can ensure employment would be run in government institutes.
