A day after his restoration in the BJP, former mandal BJP president Krishan Baldev Suri who on Sunday denied the charge of district BJP vice-president, has lashed at Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma for creating factionalism in the party.
Suri was suspended six months back from the party's primary membership and from the post of mandal BJP president for allegedly using derogatory words against district BJP chief Suresh Bhatia.
In a press conference, Suri along with mandal BJP general secretary Romesh Kholsa on Monday alleged that Kamal Sharma was creating factions in the party.
He alleged that during the demonstration of VHP leaders on August 26, Bhatia and his supporters misbehaved with him at the tehsil complex for not waiting for him while giving memorandum to the SDM. He said despite his and others present there narrating the incident to the state leadership, he was suspended.
He further said the state BJP president should resign as he has not been able to take the workers along and was creating rift among party's district and mandal-level office-bearers.
"How can I work under a person who abused me publicly? Therefore, I denied the new post offered by the state leadership. But I will continue my work for strengthening the party" he said.
Raising a question mark on Bhatia's appointment as the district president, he said as per the party's constitution, a worker can become the district president only after holding the primary membership of party for at least six years.
He alleged Kamal Sharma nominated Bhatia as the district president even as he held the primary membership for not more than one year, for reasons best known to him.
State BJP president Kamal Sharma and district BJP chief Suresh Bhatia were not available for comments.
