Rs 1.41 crore disbursed as subsidy to 45 agro-service centres

An amount to the tune of Rs 1.41 crore has been disbursed as a subsidy to 45 agro-service centres after enhancing the subsidy from 33 per cent to 40 per cent.

Deputy commissioner KS Sangha said that these societies had provided subsidy for tractors, rotavator, laser levelers and agricultural machinery to the farmers.

He added that the Punjab Farmers Commission provided 100 per cent subsidy to four societies and 50 per cent to nine societies for the purchasing of happy seeder.

He added the government had provided a subsidy of Rs 9.77 lakh against Rs 14.95 lakh for the purchase of a happy seeder.

He added 14 diesel pumps are being operated by multipurpose co-operative societies and 13 societies had applied for diesel pumps. He added that the multipurpose co-operative society Of Khanian has been honored with the president's award for providing good services.

Deputy-Registrar Naresh Goyal said that under the Bhai Ghanaiya Scheme 12,218 members had been registered. The scheme facilitates free health treatment of Rs 1.5 lakh in empanelled hospitals.

"Common service centers had been been established in 34 co-operative societies which provided various services to farmers," he said.
