He said in current year, the Punjab government would spend Rs 1-crore each on Old DC office, Qila Mubarak, Sheesh Mehal and Qila Bahadaurgarh. He said the work has already started and it would be completed by next March.

Talking to mediapersons, Thandal said the Punjab government has allocated Rs 50-crore for a project to preserve the heritage and culture of Punjab. Under this project, the heritage buildings would be repaired with traditional techniques. He said he has taken a close look of the repair of art work at Qila Mubarak.

Thandal said the Punjab government was spending enough money to promote tourism by giving new look to these old buildings. He said Patiala would be promoted as main centre of art, culture and heritage buildings.

Surjit Singh Ablowal, chairman, Punjab Tourism Corporation, and chief parliamentry secretary Balbir Singh Ghunus were also present with the minister during the visit of various heritage buildings.
