On the other hand, Kumar has proceeded on leave.

Speaking to HT, Maninder Singh said, “We have ordered an inquiry. Board secretary Adapa Kartik will submit a report by January 11. Also, the CEO has been asked to file a reply by January 5. We want to know how and who sanctioned the work?”

Hindustan Times had highlighted how Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) spent nearly Rs 40 lakh on sprucing up the official residence in an arbitrary manner.

The board’s engineering department has the responsibility to look after the maintenance of official residence of the chairman and CHB office in Sector 9, but it spent nearly Rs 40 lakh on the CEO’s residence. The department bought an LCD worth Rs 1.5 lakh, three air-conditioners for Rs 1.5 lakh, fixed curtains for Rs 1.6 lakh, besides kitchen accessories and mattresses worth lakhs.
