Rs 700-crore drug racket kingpin Bhola seeks bail
He submitted plea in SAS Nagar court and alleged he was falsely implicated due to vendetta
Jagdish Singh Bhola, alleged kingpin of Rs 700-crore synthetic drug racket in the state, on Friday sought bail in an SAS Nagar court, alleging false implication owing to “vendetta”. He filed the plea before the court of additional district and sessions judge Anshul Berry.
Bhola, an Arjuna awardee wrestler and dismissed deputy superintendent of police (DSP), was booked along with 11 others for theft, forgery and criminal conspiracy besides various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Arms Act, at the Banur police station in Patiala district, following seizure of drugs in 2013.
One of his accomplices Surjeet Singh, who belongs to Delhi, meanwhile got bail in compliance with the Punjab and Haryana high court orders, after he furnished Rs 1 lakh bails bonds in the local court.
SIT submits report
The three member special investigation team (SIT) has submitted another report before the SAS Nagar court after further investigations into the Bhola drug racket. The SIT was constituted on the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court in October 2015.
The court, meanwhile, deferred the case to March 16, as it is yet to decide on the application filed by the enforcement directorate (ED), seeking shifting of the case to Patiala. The ED is probing money laundering allegations against the accused.
