The five-day 6th South Asian Universities Youth Festival (SAUFEST) concluded at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hall of the Punjabi University here on Thursday.
The festival was organised by the University's department of youth welfare in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
University vice chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh presided over the valedictory function, while Punjab's culture minister SS Phillaur was the chief guest.
Vice president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Dr SN Pathan and chief coordinator and deputy secretary of the AIU, Sampson David thanked the vice chancellor for having extended the Punjabi University as the venue of the festival.
Some tantalising and brisk performances in the form of regional folk group dances, presented by the students of six south Asian universities -- India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka - left the spectators spellbound.
Classical dances added fervor to the spirit of the mega event.
Students from Afghanistan and Tamil Nadu gave some thrilling moments to the people during their group dance; Punjabi Folk singer, Pammi Bai too gave an enthralling performance. The event concluded with a bhangra performance by the students of Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
