SIT begins probe, assure fair inquiry

A three-member Special Investigation Team has begun investigation into the police firing that led to killing of one youth and serious injuries to another during a bandh in Gurdaspur on March 29.

A three-member Special Investigation Team has begun investigation into the police firing that led to killing of one youth and serious injuries to another during a bandh in Gurdaspur on March 29.

The SIT headed by Amritsar DIG Border Range Ram Singh and comprising Tarn Taran SSP Manminder Singh and Amritsar (Rural) SP (Headquarters) visited the firing spot in the town and talked to shopkeepers and residents of the area.

The SIT asked the locals to narrate without fear what they had witnessed on the day of police firing so as to enable them bring out the truth. The SIT members assured that the inquiry would be impartial, just and fair.
