Sports dept wants Gurjinder to be selected

Following the allegations of nepotism by a BA-3 student Gurjinder Kaur in the selection process of various sports held on July 3 this year on Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, campus, the sports department has on Tuesday decided to send a proposal to higher authorities asking for inclusion of her name into the list of selected girls.

Following the allegations of nepotism by a BA-3 student Gurjinder Kaur in the selection process during trials of various sports held on July 3 this year on Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, campus, the sports department has on Tuesday decided to send a proposal to higher authorities asking for inclusion of her name into the list of selected girls.

When contacted on Tuesday, district sports officer Kartar Singh said: "I have discussed the matter with Gurjinder's coach and other sporting staff."

He assured that the case had been settled out and a proposal would be sent to the director of sports department.

Meanwhile, Gurjinder said: "I am satisfied with the action being taken by the sports department."
Adding she said: "If I will get selected, I will be able to get a stipend of Rs200 and other facilities like free education."
