Himachal Pradesh Congress party chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday called on All-India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi and sought a nod to revamp the Pradesh Congress Committee and district units of the party.

Sukhu proposed that either the district party president be adjusted in the state unit or be accommodated in the government in various corporations and boards.
The district presidents who have been holding the post for more than five years would be replaced.

Besides the workers with organisational experience would be given new responsibilities while those working lackadaisically could be shown the doors. Sukhu also got approval to create more blocks
To strengthen the party, earlier Sukhu had subdivided the Kangra district, which comprises 16 assembly segments and is known for tilting the political scales in the state, into four units, including Dehra, Palampur and Nurpur, while Mandi, the largest district comprising 10 assembly constituencies, had been split into Sundernagar and Mandi.
