Addressing the press conference, here on Sunday, union representatives said they had requested the state government to regularise their jobs, instead of giving them salary on a regular pay-roll. "We had discussed this matter with chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, after which he had set up a four-member committee at the Punjab Bhavan on January 8, regarding their demands but no avail," they said.

They added that CM had assured them that their demands would be fulfilled within three weeks but nothing had happened. The teachers have threatened to intensify their agitation in state, if their demands were not met.
