Assistant commissioner of police (crime) Sukhwinder Singh said, "We received a complaint from one Ibrahim that the two head constables had been demanding money nearly Rs 10,000 for releasing his motorcycle impounded for no reason. Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid."

A police party asked the head constables to stop near the AlphaOne mall, but they did not stop and are absconding. A case under section 384 (extortion) of the IPC has been registered against the two.
