Two youths ended their lives in two separate incidents in Ludhiana. Both were in depression and took the extreme step due to some personal reasons.

In the first incident, an 18-year-old boy ended his life by hanging himself with ceiling fan at his relatives' house at Rajiv Gandhi Colony. He had joined job in a hosiery factory and was unable to pursue his studies.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh. He had come to his relatives place in Ludhiana a few days ago. The relatives arranged a job for him.

On Sunday late, he committed suicide by hanging himself with ceiling fan. His relatives found the body hanging with fan on Monday morning. On being informed, cops from Moti Nagar police station reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case.

The police sent the dead body to civil hospital for post mortem and filed the proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) following the statement of deceased's elder brother Jandish, who told that Vijay was not finding time to pursue studies due to job, so he was under depression.

Investigation officer in the case assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Hardeep Singh said, “No suicide note was found from the spot and the family members of deceased stated that victim was in depression after joining the job.”

In the second incident, 24-year-old Ranjit Singh of Mundian Khurd village committed suicide by hanging himself with ceiling fan in a house on Monday morning. The deceased was a plumber.

The reason behind suicide was not discovered yet, but according to his kin he was under depression for the past few days.

Incharge of Mundian police post ASI Gurbakhshish Singh said no suicide note was found from the deceased.
