With the commencement of Central India's "Swach Bharat Abhiyan"for the integrated India to make efforts for neat and clean environment, the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturer Association (UCPMA) on Thursday held a massive cycle rally to highlight how using bicycles can reduce pollution and make surroundings clean.

The rally was organised by UCPMA Cycling Club- formed recently in association with the peddlers club to increase the usage of cycles.
More than 200 people including, UCPMA president Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma and other members of the association, took part in the rally that started from the UCPMA office on the Gill Road to Alamgir, covering a distance of around 18km.
Industrialists Harminder Singh Nova and Sachin Lakra flagged off the rally. The employees of Hero Cycles Limited, Nova Cycles, Avon Cycles and Top Track Cycles, among others took part in the rally.
"All necessary arrangements such as escort car, medical van and refreshment for the participants were done by the UCPMA. During the rally, manufacturers also came to know about various technical issues related to bicycles,"said Vishivkarma.
"With the Central government's decision to promote cleanliness, we have also decided to highlight that usage of bicycles can help keeping our environment clean and green. Besides, a cycle bank comprising around 50 bicycles has also been created by the UCPMA. Members of the club can use these anytime,"he said.
Vishivkarma also said that the association would promote cycling through various programmes in the coming months.
