US woman found dead in McLeodganj hotel

A 67-year-old US national was found dead inside her room at a private hotel in McLeodganj near Dharamsala town on Sunday night.

A 67-year-old US national was found dead inside her room at a private hotel in McLeodganj near Dharamsala town on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lillian L, who was on a tourist visa and had come to the town on June 30. According to the hotel staff the woman had checked in on July 9.

When she didn't come out of her room all day on Sunday, the hotel staff checked on her on Monday morning. After getting no response, they informed the police. The cops entered the room after breaking open the door and found Lillian dead.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), headquarters, Hitesh Lakhanpal said an autopsy was conducted at Dr Rajendera Prasad Medical College, Tanda, on Monday but the cause of death could not be ascertained.

"The viscera are being sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory to determine the cause of death," Lakhanpal said. A case has been registered.
