Next GIS in 2019-20, NRI summit in 2018, says Das
Industry experts see this announcement as an effort by Jharkhand to tread the path of Gujarat, which too took similar initiatives to kick off an industrial boom
Jharkhand will hold its second Global Investors Summit (GIS) in 2019-20 and an NRI summit in November 2018 in an effort to carry forward and further strengthen the development agenda of 2017, chief minister Raghubar Das announced on Thursday.
Addressing the state’s maiden GIS at Ranchi’s Khelgaon he said, “We will hold our next global summit in 2019-20, and an NRI summit on November 28, 29 and 30 in 2018,”
Industry experts see this announcement as an effort by Jharkhand to tread the path of Gujarat, which too took similar initiatives to kick off an industrial boom during the term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief minister of the western state.
“Jharkhand is a land of opportunities. It is rapidly growing with the support of its enthusiastic youth and optimum utilization of mineral resources bestowed upon it by Mother Nature,” Das said.
Das counted the state’s “working population” in the age group of 15 to 59 years as the greatest tool for its development. More than 60% of the state’s population is 15 to 59 years old and enthusiastic to work for a better Jharkhand, he said.
The CM also elaborated on the scope of developing the tourism sector in Jharkhand. With its scenic beauty, water falls, lakes, flora and fauna, Jharkhand has the potential to grow as a major tourist destination, he said.
Mentioning the upcoming 200 acre film city at Patratu, Das told the industrialists, ministers and foreign delegates that the state was ready to emerge as one of the key filmmaking destinations in India.
“There is immense scope for those interested in setting up top class filmmaking infrastructure as well,” Das said.
Thanking the Centre for its support to Jharkhand, he said that the presence of Union ministers at the event was evidence of the support and encouragement extended by the Centre to Jharkhand.
“The time is apt for investment in Jharkhand. We have successfully created an investment and industry friendly atmosphere here and it is time for industrialists to seize the initiative,” he said.
