Janhvi Kapoor’s National Awards sari is the one Sridevi wore for Ram Charan’s wedding

Like mother, like daughter. Janhvi Kapoor looked her gracious best when she wore a cream and pink silk Kanjeevaram sari at the National Film Awards function in New Delhi on Thursday. It has now come to light that it is the same sari her late mother Sridevi wore when she attended the wedding of Telugu actor Ram Charan, veteran actor Chiranjeevi’s son.
An NDTV report says that it the same sari Sridevi had worn for Ram’s 2013 wedding. Janhvi’s fan clubs first spotted it, the report added.
Janhvi chose to make a few alterations in how she wore it -- while Sridevi had worn it with a sleeveless blouse and matched it with ear tops and a double-chained necklace, Janhvi went with a simple cropped sleeved blouse, jhumkis and a heavy bangle.
Meanwhile, designer Manish Malhotra too had shared a picture of Janhvi in the sari, confirming that it was from Sridevi’s personal collection. He wrote: “The very pretty @janhvikapoor as she goes to Receive Sridevi Ma’am’s Much Deserved National Award for her fabulous performance in Mom’ ... An Actress and a human being and the friend that we all miss every day of our life’s ... #jhanvikapoor in her Mom s personel Saree for this emotional and precious moment #manishmalhotraworld .., #kushikapoor #boneykapoor @mmalhotraworld.”
Janhvi’s younger sister Khushi, wore a traditional south Indian-style half sari.
Sridevi was awarded the best actress award posthumously for her role in the Bollywood film, Mom, which was her last released work. The late actor died in February this year by accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel.
