Kanaa teaser: Aishwarya Rajesh plays the role of an aspiring cricketer in Sivakarthikeyan movie.

Sivakarthikeyan’s production, Kanaa, was much discussed after the first look of the film was released. The film starring Aishwarya Rajesh in a lead role is about a woman who follows her dream to become a cricketer against all odds. Aishwarya’s character dreams of playing the sport ever since she was a young girl, she dreams about being there on the ground with the crowd cheering around her. However, the response she gets from the society is ‘it is not a dream that a girl should follow,’ or ‘cricket is not for girls’.

The teaser also shows us that Aishwarya’s character in the film hails from a rural area inhabited largely by farmers. Her family doesn’t have money to even buy food, let alone spend on a girl’s training to become a cricketer. Does all of this break her or stop her from following her dreams? No.

The girl is told by her mother, ‘It is not enough if you dream, you need to know to be stubborn too,’ and this is what strikes a chord immediately. Sivakarthikeyan’s cameo in the film is official as we see him in the last shot of the teaser. What role would he play in the film is something that we would have to wait and see.

Kanaa is Sivakarthikeyan’s first production directed by Arun Kamaraj and the music for the film is composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas. The film also stars Darshan, Ilavarasu, Ramadoss and Anthony Bharadwaj in supporting roles. The music album of the film will be launched by international cricketer, Smriti Madhana.
