And now the film will take the superstar to the Cannes Film Festival. Rajni will be visiting the prestigious fest for the first time to launch the trailer of the much-awaited film.

A source says, “The trailer of the film will be showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. Rajni will be present to unveil it. The film is co-produced by Eros which is why they are planning a gala event in there as it’s also Rajni’s first time at Cannes.”

The film has various versions — Tamil, Telegu, Hindi and English. “The international version’s trailer will be launched there for the English-speaking viewers. The film is the same, but the language will be different,” adds the source claiming that usually Indian filmmakers give a dubbed version of trailers at Cannes to ensure a widespread reach.

The source goes on to add that Rajni will reach there on May 16, but the details are being worked out. The film is directed by the superstar’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin and will release in India later this year.

Kochadaiyaan is Asia’s first film made using motion-capture technology, which was previously used in Avatar (2009) and The Adventures of Tintin (2011).

The film stars Deepika Padukone, R Sarathkumar, and Jackie Shroff among others. Recently Rajnikanth, Soundarya, co-writer KS Ravikumar and the entire team saw the edited movie and were happy with the results.
